Problems Solved
Often, medical tubing is draped over a patient while he/she lay in a hospital bed. Tubing and suction yankaeurs are often difficult to move and do not allow the patient any room for movement. Additional infections or other medical issues can arise from improper hygiene practices due to tubing being allowed to lay on the ground or other unclean surfaces. Finding an appropriate way to secure both large and small tubes/clips may be challenging.
Detailed Description & Features
The Universal Tube and Suction Holder is a specially designed support holder for all breathing circuit tubes which includes a block that attaches to a patient’s bed rails for complete adjust-ability. The device is shaped like a cube, and it clamps onto the bed rails by using an adjustable knob located on the bottom of the invention. The knob raises the bottom portion of the device, allowing for complete adjust-ability to fit the size of the bed rail. C-shaped clips are located on the sides of the device, able to hold various sizes of medical tubing. The back of the C-clamp may have both small and large clips to hold a suction yankauer securely in place. A chain with a cover for the top of the yankauer could be located on the bottom, back portion of the C-clamp.
To use the device, the user would attach the clamp to the side of the bed rail near the patient. The user would then turn the knob, located on the bottom of the device, to secure it to the rail. Tubes would then be placed into the C-shaped clamps on the device, allowing for appropriate use. The yankauer would be held in place on the back of the clamp when not in use, and the cover attached to the chain apparatus on the device would be placed over the top of the yankauer where the mouthpiece is located.
The Universal Tube and Suction Holder is constructed with heavy-duty plastic, ensuring long-lasting use. The device measures approximately 4-6” in length, 3-4” in width, and 3-4” in height. Exact specifications may vary.
